Hello and welcome to my first blog! My desire is to inspire and empower you through sharing art, stories, tips and tools I have learned along the way. Take what you need and disregard what doesn't resonate. I am just grateful our paths have crossed and perhaps I can be of service to you in some way. And it may help to keep in mind:
The key to making art (and life) easier is to relax, have fun, and play more!
If I had to describe myself in one sentence it would be: I am an artist who has jacked up my brain with a cognitive enhancing protocol of supplements, herbal teas, fresh organic food, exercise and a constant regiment of detoxing my environment and my body. I started the protocol just after returning from several months of caring for a family member who was suffering from memory loss. I was introduced to a program that reverses and prevents alzheimers/dimentia at a time when I was very motivated to learn how I could prevent myself from going down the same devastating path which is effecting several of my relatives. A friend introduced me to her brother in law who is a chemist and who’s passion is brain enhancement. He also just happened to be single, as was I, so she thought we would be a good “match”. As it turns out, he was...and still is!... and I will continue this magical story in future blogs…
But more importantly I will be sharing many specific details about the cognitive enhancing protocol (and maybe a bit about the romance of the artist and scientist) as this protocol has enhanced my life in amazing ways, not the least of which is that my level of creativity is “off the charts!”. If you want to jump forward you can read about it in Dr. Dale Bredesens’s book: The End of Alzheimer's: The First Program to Prevent and Reverse Cognitive Decline. We also have added other supplements and modalities that my beloved, Alan, has researched and been using for many years.
Since you may not know me yet I will back up a bit and give you a brief over view of my earlier years and how this all started about 20 years ago. I was in my early 40’s and after 24 years of being a wife and mother and living an “ordinary life” I suddenly could no longer hold back the urge to pick up a paint brush and start painting. From the very first painting I could feel a flood gate open and out poured all of this pent up emotion onto the canvas. I could not stop and to this day it has increased significantly which is very exhilarating and exciting! It comes and goes in waves of what I call “creative frenzies”. I loose all track of time and sometimes stay up until 2 or 3 am in this glorious exhilarated state of bliss!
The last 20 years have been a time of ups and downs and sometimes messy process of transformation, adventure, self-discovery, and so much more. I am barely recognizable as the same person I was back then. I feel like I have lived at least 2 or 3 different life times in this relatively short period of time. And I can truly say I am happier, more balanced, peaceful, passionate and in love with life and myself than I ever dreamed possible! I want to keep this blog brief so I will fill in some of the juicy details later. I will just say that as we go along in future blogs I will share with you many processes and techniques I have learned. And even more fun than that I will share the artwork that was created and how my own personal transformation was led by my art as my essence was revealed in my paintings.
My desire is to inspire you by sharing my journey and showing you ways to enhance and discover your own creativity. I want to let you know that you are creative. Everyone is born creative. You probably have never heard a child say, "I'm not creative". We learn 'not creative' by other peoples misguided comments and perhaps by self comparison. It is inherently understood by the child that creativity is a natural state.
Creativity shows up in so many ways that may not even involve painting or drawing. Your creativity can be as a mom, the way you interact with people, writing, playing music, knitting, science and a million other ways. It is a different combination for each of us. And what I have found from teaching people who never ever thought they could be creative is that somehow the mere act of being creative helps bypass their old story of “I am not artistic, I can’t even draw a stick figure.” I have found that painting is the fast path to discovering yourself and what your talents are. Otherwise it can take a long time (sometimes a life time, if we are lucky to even remember it at all!) to unlearn the thinking of one’s self as not creative. As Vincent Van Gogh said “if you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint’, then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.”
It is my absolute joy to inspire others, perhaps you, by empowering them to open up to their own creativity and all the ways that that enhances their lives. This benefits all of us by increasing the positive energy that alive, creative, thriving individuals add to the world!
